To Mr. Paul Carter and the rest of the staff at Hazardous Devices School. Thank you for you support all through all the years! (The above photo was taken at the Bomb Tech Memorial located at HDS, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL.)

Paul Carter is a retired Army EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) soldier. He served an entire career in the Army and is now serving as the Chief Instructor at the HDS.

Thanks To:

My wife Wendy, who watched as I struggled every day to build a sled I could not ride. Her patience and understanding is the only reason the team came together. And the fact that she didn't kill me after seeing the credit card bills.

My boys who helped in the shop and were also patient with me being tired and worn out.

Steve and Sherry Landon of the Winning Edge On-line Magazine for all their support to our team, and the motor sports community. www.winningedge.com. They have an ongoing offer to any soldier, sailor, airman deployed that a free online subscription is available. If you are deployed or know someone deployed, please contact the Landons, who will then ensure you receive a updated magazine bi-monthly at no cost.

The folks at the Eagle River Derby Track

Doug Miner and family of Miner's Outdoor & Rec, Blooming Prairie, MN - For your service as a U.S. Army soldier and your donations of hundreds of parts to our team.

B. C. Engineering - for all your help on fabricating and building parts. Your dedication to the police officers and soldiers.

Dan Gust, owner of Action Signs, Apple Valley, MN- For your service as a U.S. Army soldier in Vietnam and your outstanding work on the team's Army sled. You did all the graphics and refused to accept payment stating, "It is an honor and privilege to help."

Neil of Action Signs. He is now back from his deployment in the Middle East. Just before he left, he made sure to paint the back(butt) portion of my Hayabusa. I asked him for something that would make people stop and remember 9/11..this is what they put together. AWESOME!!!! He also refused to allow me to pay.

Courage Center, Golden Valley, MN- to Doc. Cohen, Jo and the rest of the crew. Thank you for showing me how to live and accept my brain injury. I owe more than words can say. And I did as you asked...I focused!

My friends from Minneapolis Police Dept. who always stood side by side with me through thick and thin. The police brotherhood is as the brotherhood of soldiers. Thank you guys!

The Bravest Man I Know
by Amanda Whitney (junior high student)

The bravest man I know.
Is a man I've never met.
He's a man who risks his life
To save a friend,
Not only to save a friend,
But to save a nation.
Risking his life
For those he does not know.
Stepping up
Leaving loved ones behind,
So that somewhere,
Someone else won't have to.
He is a man who follows orders
Even though he knows he might die.

The bravest man I know.
Is the man who would rather die,
So one more person could go home
To see his family again.
The man who stares death in the face,
But never blinks.

The bravest man I know.
Is the man who risks his life
So one day the world may be a better place for his children.
Or any man who goes against his biggest fear.
DEATH
Just to save someone he loves.

The bravest man I know.
Is the man who fights
So another man can have the taste of sweet freedom.
Not fighting only for his own benefit,
But for many others all over the world,
Fighting to make this world a better place.

That's the bravest man I know.

The men and women of the 55th CST and especially Doctor Autrey who saved my life twice! I can never pay you back. THANK YOU!

To the team of friends that made the trek to Eagle River. Obviously we could only have done this as a TEAM.
